I have extensive experience teaching English in Japan, and I am ESL-certified, with a postgraduate Diploma in Education Specialized in TESOL (Ed.Dip., UBC, Vancouver). The University of British Columbia maintains a sister-school relationship with Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto and as part of my program, I completed a Teaching Practicum involving Japanese students studying at the Vancouver campus.
I have experience working with students of all ages in various instructional settings, including kindergarten/nursery schools, elementary schools, junior high schools and language learning centres. I have been actively involved with recruiting new students, as well as offering free demonstration lessons. I have followed a prescribed curriculum to conduct classes for students of all ages in fun, engaging and creative learning activities. Most recently I was Assistant Language Teacher at a large elementary school with more than 600 students enrolled in Grades 1~6, and at a small junior high school with 137 students.
I especially enjoy working with younger learners, enabling me to inspire students with my energy and passion. I also have a positive attitude, extremely well-developed interpersonal skills, a genuinely heartfelt motivation and a sincere desire to assist language learners. I am able to relocate and I am able to fulfill a long-term commitment (longer than 12 months preferred). I will require sponsorship for a Instructor working visa, and I have a Japan driving licence and a fuel-efficient vehicle.
