Would it be the best remedy to the rainy season blues?
Here comes the rainy season, and between the hot weather and the high humidity in the air, it is getting harder and harder to find the courage to go outside. Yet, a new show, which may be worth the pain, popped out in Puroland theme park (a park centered on the Sanrio characters such as Aggretsuko and Hello Kitty) and it may help you to get through the apathy!
Mixing the 可愛い (kawaii, cute) characters of Sanrio with traditional theatrical art 歌舞伎 (kabuki) is a challenge as itself... And that is actually the theme of the show, as its name suggests subtly: Kawaii Kabuki!
The collaboration between Sanrio and the Kabuki troupe gives a new twist to the folktale of Momotaro, a boy born from a peach who will meet friends and defeat ogres to bring freedom to the kingdom. If the tale is not that well-known overseas, Momotaro is maybe the most popular tales' character in Japan along with Princess Kaguya and Urashima Taro.
Sanrio adds also another uncommon feature in the show: it is a musical. May you are a fan of Hello Kitty, a lover of kabuki or a musical aficionado, give this unique show a chance if you pass by Puroland!
