The Airport Limousine Bus: An Easy Way To Travel Into Osaka From Kansai International Airport

Tuesday, December 19, 2017

Learn how to ride the Limousine Bus from Kansai International Airport to Osaka City.

The Airport Limousine Bus: An Easy Way To Travel Into Osaka From Kansai International Airport

There are 3 ways to get to the Osaka area from the Kansai International Airport: By train, limousine bus or taxi. The limousine bus that runs from Kansai International Airport to Osaka City Center is the cheapest and easiest transportation service for travelers with lots of heavy luggage. Using the bus also ensures that you don't have to change to another form of transportation later on. Let's show you how to find and ride the limousine bus!

Fare: 1550 Japanese Yen(One Way)

Approximate time required: about 1 hour (from the airport to Osaka City)

Timetable:http://www.kate.co.jp/en/timetable/detail/UM (English)

At Kansai International Airport, there are two terminals. This guide will show you how to get to the airport limousine bus from Terminal 1.

At International arrivals, there is a North and South Exit.

--Exiting from the North exit--

After exiting from the international arrivals area, go straight and leave the building.

Exit from the automatic door B (or C).

Once you are outside, turn left immediately and continue straight.

The bus stop going to Osaka and Umeda train stations leaves from bus stop #5. (How to buy tickets will be explained later on in this guide.)

-

-Exiting from the South exit--

After exiting from the international arrivals area, go straight and leave the building and exit from Automatic door G.

Once you are outside, bus stop #5 is immediately on your right.

--How to buy Tickets--

You can purchase your tickets from the ticket machine at bus stop #5

*Caution: You cannot purchase the tickets from the other ticket machines at the other bus stops, only at #5.

Press the button for English and buy a ticket for 1550 yen at the very top of the screen.

Tip: If you are traveling in Japan for less than 14 days, you can buy a round trip ticket for 2760 yen. This is only valid for 14 consecutive days from the time of first use.

Line up at the area that is indicated “bound for Osaka” up until about 5 minutes before the departure time and have the personnel take your luggage.

Make sure to choose one of the two stops that bus makes:

1st Stop:  Hotel New Hankyu

2nd Stop:  Herbis Osaka

The closest stop to Osaka and Umeda station is the first stop; New Hankyu Hotel.

The second bus stop at the Herbis Osaka is the closest to the Hilton and the Ritz Carlton.

*Tip: When returning to the airport, the Herbis stop  has the most seats open.

The limousine bus can drop you off directly at other stops as well, like the Hilton Osaka Chayamachi (Hotel Hankyu International) and Senri Chuo, but the times for these buses are scarce so be sure to check the timetable before riding the bus.

*Caution:

-To ride the bus to Namba/ Shinsaibashi/ USJ, please check this timetable for Bus Stop information.

-Some hotels also offer free limousine busses, so please check if your hotel offers one.

Other Tips:

  • There is free Wifi at the airport (Free WiFi@KIXRV )
  • Inside the airport there are lots of restaurants and shops to enjoy before boarding the bus. It`s fun to buy food before riding the bus and eat it while watching the scenery. Try not to buy strong smelling food though, as it could bother the other passengers around you.

If you don`t have heavy luggage, you can also ride the train to many parts of Kansai very cheaply. On another post we will explain how to ride the train from Kansai International Airport into Kansai.
